Some Arsenal fans have responded to Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez’s comments about them on Twitter.
In a new interview published on SkySports.com on Friday, Martinez has once again reflected on his exit from Arsenal.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper joined Villa from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the summer of 2020 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £20 million.
The Argentine got his chance to play regularly for the Gunners’ first team in the final weeks of last season when Bernd Leno was injured.
However, once Leno got fit again, the German was reinstated as the first-choice goalkeeper.
Martinez told Sky Sports: “I love everything about Arsenal. I still love them and I’m still watching the games, but I just felt like they didn’t trust me like they should have.
“That’s the reality because they kept buying goalkeepers to go in front of me and I was the goalkeeper from the academy. When I was on a high, I still felt like they didn’t deserve me because of the way they were treating me.
“They couldn’t guarantee me the games I needed so I thought that if they couldn’t guarantee me the games I needed, then I’m moving on.”

This is not the first time that Martinez has spoken about his exit from Arsenal last year.
Martinez spoke to The Independent in October 2020 about his decision to leave the Gunners, while in November 2020, he said that the transfer to Villa was a step up in his career, as quoted on talkSPORT.
It is not the Argentine’s fault that he is asked in interviews about his spell at Arsenal and his departure, but since he has made his point by now, maybe he should tone it down a bit.
Below are some Arsenal fans’ reaction to Martinez’s comments on Sky Sports.
