Halifax releases an advert like many banking retailers, every couple of months. As of late they have shown unity in hard times among their customers and represent that as a brand they are always there for their consumers. They first opened their doors 168 years ago in 1853 and are now one of the UK’s most popular choices to do all of their customers banking.
Their adverts have long been iconic with the use of characters such as Top Cat, Scooby-Doo and their popular brand ambassador, Howard Brown. The latest advert has captured members of the nation that have seen it and now everyone is wondering what filming locations they used during the pandemic.

- The new Halifax advert for 2021 was filmed on Waveney avenue, located in Peckham, London.
Filming for the advert took place between Thursday, 7th January 2021 – Friday, 15th January 2021 and also showed a Halifax branch on Eltham High Street, London. Cast and crew ensured to adhere to UK Government, covid-19 safety guidelines and maintained social distancing outside of households and bubbles. As well as this, everyone working on the advert was tested on set every morning and were enabled to work, only if their result came up as negative.
The 1 Minute, 30-second video’s opening sequence shows a shot of typical British homes with people living their day to day lives, cycling, carrying out deliveries and moving homes. The video pans from one house to another, showing everyone living their ups and downs.
About the advert
Halifax released this advert on YouTube, a day before Valentine’s day on 13th February 2021. It is shown with the caption on the post being “For the ups, the downs, and everything in between. #ItsAPeopleThing“. The title for the advert being ‘It’s a people thing’.
The advert at the time of writing this has close to 29K views and over 300 thumbs up! The advert was done by New Commercial Arts and is said to be “NCA’s first big campaign for a major established brand”.
During the length of the video, you might hear a familiar song. Popular British band Oasis can be heard in the background playing their 1997 hit, Stand By Me.
