Reported Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur target Radu Dragusin is signing a new contract at Juventus with his agent telling DigiSport the defender will be rewarded with a big pay rise.

We can only assume the 19-year-old Romanian has been given assurances regarding his first-team role at the Allianz Stadium.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Dragusin had doubts over whether signing a new deal with the Serie A champions was the right thing for his development.

The teenager was due to become a free agent this summer and is understandably concerned about a lack of opportunities. Giorgio Chiellini, Merih Demiral, Leonardo Bonucci and Matthijs de Ligt are all ahead of him in Andrea Pirlo’s pecking order.

Now that’s some competition.

Newcastle and Tottenham were willing to offer Dragusin a fresh start in England (Calciomercato), while Crystal Palace entered talks over a summer deal last week, according to the Standard.

But, while we’re not professing to have a mole in the Juventus dressing room, it seems to us Dragusin has been convinced he does, in fact, have a part to play in Pirlo’s plans.

“(Currently), he has a salary of €3,500 per month (about £750 a week). About as much Cristiano Ronaldo earns per second!” quips Florin Manea, Dragusin’s agent.

“He will be very well with the new salary.

“He is a child who wants to get to the top. I, as an agent, must offer him all the conditions to do that.”

Pirlo may be unable to promise Dragusin a starting role each week but the 2006 World Cup winner is clearly a big fan of the ball-playing central-defender, who models his game on Virgil van Dijk.

Dragusin has been rewarded with Serie A and Champions League debuts this season.
