Sean Dyche believes ‘Man of the Match’ Kasper Schmeichel was the difference between a draw and a win for Burnley during their Premier League clash with Leicester City, as he told the Clarets’ website.
With James Maddison and Harvey Barnes watching from the sidelines, Brendan Rodgers’ injury-hit side were reliant on some heroics at the other end of the pitch as they avoided a damaging defeat at Turf Moor.
The ever-reliable Schmeichel produced arguably his best performance of the season in Lancashire, soaring through the air to deny Chris Wood on two separate occasions while also keeping out James Tarkowski from close range.
“I thought throughout the game, particularly in the second half, we were on the front foot and it does paint a picture if their keeper was arguably man of the match,” Dyche sighed at full-time, bemoaning Burnley’s failure to turn their long spells of pressure into a goal.
“You can get greedy, which I often do, and we certainly created enough chances tonight.

“They have an away record that’s right up there with Manchester City, so you have to be careful, but their keeper was excellent and we’ve come away with a pleasing point against a very good side.”
The result means Leicester are still third in the Premier League, although fifth-placed Chelsea can close the gap to just three points with a win against beleaguered Liverpool tonight.
Rodgers, however, will have taken some pleasure out of the performance of Kelechi Iheanacho, who stepped up in Maddison’s absence to fire a stunning first-time volley past Nick Pope and cancel out Matej Vydra’s early opener.
That was just a second league goal of the season for the £24 million striker.
