Patrick Bamford has jokingly suggested that he would embrace the competition if Erling Haaland joined Leeds United this summer.
Speaking on the club’s official podcast, it was put to Bamford that Leeds were obviously going to sign Haaland this summer.
“Are you at all worried about when Haaland signs in the summer, that you’ll be fighting for your place,” Matthew Lewis said.
But Bamford could not help but laugh, and responded: “I relish the competition!”
Haaland is one of the few strikers across Europe’s top flights who have actually outscored Bamford this season.
In truth, Leeds stand no chance of landing the Norwegian now – as he has been linked with some of the most high profile clubs in the country.
However, Leeds did actually push to land him when he was younger.
Haaland is on record as a Leeds supporter and has already said that he dreams of winning the Premier League with Leeds (Leeds Live) in the future.
If that is to ever happen then the Whites are likely to need to make huge progress without him.
But it could be that Bamford actually has to line up against Haaland next season, as it does appear as if he could well come to the Premier League, with his future at Borussia Dortmund very uncertain.
