Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react after Sam Allardyce complained about the fixture scheduling ahead of West Brom’s clash with the Toffees.
The Baggies boss felt it was ‘disrespectful’ of the Premier League to hand him a game against Everton on Thursday with the fixture West Brom have coming up this weekend.
The Midlands-based outfit take on Newcastle this Sunday, in what is a huge relegation six-pointer for West Brom which they simply need to win.
The Baggies also faced Brighton last Saturday, so it will be three games in eight days for Allardyce to contend with.
As quoted by BT Sport, the ex-England boss said: “We have a big week to follow this week with the Everton game thrown in the middle, which we could have done without.
“We could have done without playing Everton when Newcastle don’t play a game at all. Unfortunately we have to cope with it. If it was Wednesday I would have less of a complaint, but when they threw it on Thursday I thought that was very disrespectful personally.”
In fairness to Allardyce, he probably has reason to be annoyed, as Everton faced Liverpool on February 20th and Southampton on March 1st, so Carlo Ancelotti has a fairly fresh squad.
However, Everton – and every team – have endured some sort of fixture pile-up at times this season, so it’s just something Premier League bosses have to get on with.
Perhaps Allardyce is more on edge about the situation seeing as West Brom are still nine points from safety, and need all the help they can get.
Let’s see how the Everton fans on Twitter reacted to their former manager’s comments ahead of Thursday’s clash…

He probably has a lot more context than we do. Just like it's ridiculous for us to play Fulham, Man City, then Liverpool the same week then have 8 days rest before doing it all again. All because Man City got the original fixture postponed.— Cryptys (@Cryptys) March 2, 2021

Don't care. Our players have had a habit of going to sleep in winnable games.— Citizens of Suburbia (@mitdevani) March 3, 2021
Carlo will need to have them fired up, or we will get done.
Allardyce is a crafty fox. He will have noted how jittery we are on corners and crosses.
Our record against him isn't great either
