Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react after Sam Allardyce complained about the fixture scheduling ahead of West Brom’s clash with the Toffees.

The Baggies boss felt it was ‘disrespectful’ of the Premier League to hand him a game against Everton on Thursday with the fixture West Brom have coming up this weekend.

The Midlands-based outfit take on Newcastle this Sunday, in what is a huge relegation six-pointer for West Brom which they simply need to win.

The Baggies also faced Brighton last Saturday, so it will be three games in eight days for Allardyce to contend with.

As quoted by BT Sport, the ex-England boss said: “We have a big week to follow this week with the Everton game thrown in the middle, which we could have done without.

“We could have done without playing Everton when Newcastle don’t play a game at all. Unfortunately we have to cope with it. If it was Wednesday I would have less of a complaint, but when they threw it on Thursday I thought that was very disrespectful personally.”

In fairness to Allardyce, he probably has reason to be annoyed, as Everton faced Liverpool on February 20th and Southampton on March 1st, so Carlo Ancelotti has a fairly fresh squad.

However, Everton – and every team – have endured some sort of fixture pile-up at times this season, so it’s just something Premier League bosses have to get on with.

Perhaps Allardyce is more on edge about the situation seeing as West Brom are still nine points from safety, and need all the help they can get.
