Aston Villa were delighted to learn that Jaden Philogene-Bidace would be signing a new contract at the Premier League outfit despite interest from Arsenal and RB Leipzig, as reported by the Express and Star.
After weeks of speculation, one of the most exciting young forwards in English football has finally dispelled the doubts surrounding his short-term future.
Philogene-Bidace was due to become a free agent on July 1 with top-flight rivals Arsenal sniffing around.
So too were a RB Leipzig side boasting a remarkable track record when it comes to turning promising youngsters into elite-level difference-makers (Mail).
But, after signing a new deal until 2024, Philogene-Bidace will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Jack Grealish and Jacob Ramsey rather than Timo Werner and Dayot Upamecano.
“It is fantastic to see Jaden commit to a new long-term contract,” said Mark Harrison, Aston Villa’s academy manager.

“He has had a really good last six months with some excellent performances in the U23s, which has led to him training with the first team on a regular basis and has recently seen him travel with them to games.
“We are very excited to see how Jaden develops over the next few years.”
In 11 Premier League 2 matches, Philogene-Bidance has produced five goals and two assists this season.
And with Aston Villa long-since safe from a relegation dogfight, don’t be surprised to see Smith give the 18-year-old a chance between now and May.
