Ian Wright has explained on the Wrighty’s House podcast that he just wishes Arsenal had a prime Santi Cazorla in their team right now.

Arsenal may have some strong creative options in the form of Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard currently.

But Cazorla’s name was mentioned in the latest episode of Wright’s podcast.

And the former Arsenal striker just couldn’t help but wonder how good the Gunners might be if they had a fully fit Cazorla to call upon.

“You know something, you mention Santi there. You just think back to the players that we’ve had and the fact is that we’ve had some players in the past,” he said.

“If we had Cazorla in his pomp now, playing him next to Thomas Partey… I feel like I’m going to cry.”

Cazorla actually left Arsenal in 2018, after a series of injury problems.

The 36-year-old’s renaissance since that moment has been quite remarkable, though.

Cazorla went to Villarreal and impressed so much that he actually broke back into Spain’s squad.

The attacking midfielder is now playing for Al Sadd in Qatar, where he continues to post brilliant numbers for both goals and assists, which prove the quality that he still possesses, despite his advancing years.

Wrighty’s House is the latest podcast from The Ringer with host Ian Wright with new episodes every Wednesday. The podcast will be available exclusively on Spotify. You can listen here.
