Speaking to talkSPORT, England manager Gareth Southgate has named Tottenham loanee Ryan Sessegnon amongst the English talents playing abroad he’s been watching this season.
Sessegnon is yet to be capped at senior level for the national team, but it seems as though he’s firmly on Southgate’s radar as the England manager named him alongside Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho as a player he’s keeping an eye on in Germany.
Sessegnon has been starring while out on loan at Hoffenheim, earning all sorts of plaudits for his performances in the Bundesliga.
“I think some of our kids have decided that ok that’s is a good route to go down, and when I watch the German league, which we watch quite a lot now because of Jadon (Sancho), Jude (Bellingham) and Ryan Sessegnon is out there and we’ve had some others,” Southgate said.
“It’s a great league for young players because you’ve got games against Bayern Munich and Leipzig who are really high, but you’ve also got teams who wouldn’t be as high up in the Premier League where those boys can play a bit and get opportunities in front of goal.”

Sessegnon is certainly developing over in Germany, and it seems as though his performances for Hoffenheim aren’t doing his international hopes any harm either.
Southgate is watching, and if he’s been watching closely, he will have been impressed by what he’s seen this term.
Left-back has long been a problem position for England, with Kieran Trippier famously playing in that position earlier this season, so it makes sense for Southgate to have an eye on Sessegnon as he could be a potential solution in that area.
