Anwar El Ghazi told Sky Sports during their live coverage of Aston Villa’s win at Leeds on Saturday evening that Marcelo Bielsa is ‘one of the best’ coaches he has ever had.

The popular Leeds boss worked with El Ghazi during their days at Lille and he wouldn’t have been surprised at what the Villa technician produced at Elland Road yesterday.

El Ghazi’s brilliant first touch and then finish inside the opening five minutes helped Villa secure a deserved 1-0 win against the Whites.

After the match, El Ghazi showed nothing but respect to the Leeds manager and his demands on players.

“I will have a talk with him inside,” said El Ghazi. “I have a very good relationship with him.

“He’s a very good coach. One of the best I have ever had. I have a lot of respect for him.

“But, unfortunately, they did not win today.”

El Ghazi is no doubt a Bielsa-type player in the sense of the demands he puts into games, his ability to play across the front three and one of his best assets being his technical ability.

That was proven by the goal he scored when he brilliantly controlled Ollie Watkins cross, despite being off-balance, stayed on his feet and then slotted home.

That’s six Premier League goals for El Ghazi this season, and alongside a number of Villa players, he has improved massively this season.
