River Plate forward Nicolas De La Cruz has admitted that he dreams of playing Premier League football, amid reported interest from Everton, while speaking to Sport890, via Telam.

With James Rodriguez producing the odd flutter of star quality and Gylfi Sigurdsson playing like it’s 2014 all over again, the Toffees are not exactly lacking in the creative midfielder department.

That has not stopped speculation linking De La Cruz with a summer switch to Goodison Park, however.

The 23-year-old Uruguay international was first linked with a £22 million move to Everton via Ole in May 2020, with Marca keeping those reports alive a few weeks back.

Despite extending his contract until 2022, the River Plate ace has made it clear that offers from across the Atlantic will be considered.

“The Premier League is one of the leagues that seduces me the most,” explained the 5ft 6ins schemer.

“European football, for me, would be a very big leap.

“In the June transfer window, we will listen to offers.”

De La Cruz, who has also been linked with a big-money move to Manchester City, produced an impressive 10 goals and nine assists in 35 games for River Plate last season.

And if Carlo Ancelotti is serious about gate-crashing the exclusive top-four party, then surely he could not have too many match-winning options at his disposal.
