West Ham fans have taken to Twitter in anger after hearing something that Andy Townsend said on talkSPORT about the club’s excellent form.

You can see what the well-known commentator said in the video below.

Now, the 57-year-old’s comments are incredibly disrespectful to David Moyes, his staff, and the players at the London Stadium.

Townsend effectively claimed that the Hammers’ excellent season has largely been down to a lack of negativity pouring from the London Stadium terraces.

That is, quite simply, a silly thing to say.

Yes, the West Ham supporters have brought negativity into the ground in the past, there’s no denying that.

However, that has only occurred during some dreadful times, where players didn’t look interested, managers were under pressure and there was frustration with the board.

The latter is still present.

Having said that, we’re almost certain that fans wouldn’t be booing or moaning about David Gold, David Sullivan and Karren Brady if they were watching the stunning football that’s happening now.

The London Stadium faithful just want to see their team do well – they wouldn’t look to bring the mood down on purpose just because of GSB.

Townsend’s comments don’t give Moyes, his staff and the players anywhere near enough credit for what they’ve achieved this term.

The West Ham fans on Twitter are rightly annoyed.
