According to Score Nigeria, Wolverhampton Wanderers are back in for IFK Goteborg midfielder Alhassan Yusuf – but Leicester City are now battling them.

Back in June 2020, Score Nigeria reported that Wolves were ready to pay €7million (£6million) to sign Yusuf, with Sheffield United prepared to spend half of that.

Neither club managed to sign Yusuf, though they are still in the mix to sign the Nigerian talent at the end of the season.

However, Leicester City are believed to have joined the race for Yusuf, and it’s no surprise given a comparison mentioned in the report.

It’s stated that Yusuf is being compared to former Foxes star N’Golo Kante, and he is expected to leave now he only has one year left on his deal in Sweden.

There are fears that Yusuf won’t land a work permit, though signing for an English club and then heading on loan to Belgium, Germany or Holland is reportedly being considered.

Yusuf, 20, is a diminutive yet quick and hard-working midfielder, meaning the comparisons to Kante aren’t a huge surprise even if they’re a little lofty.

Leicester do have one star Nigerian midfielder in Wilfred Ndidi, and they may well have another one on the way in Yusuf if they can fend off Wolves and their long-standing interest.
