Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react after they thought they spotted Brendan Rodgers aiming a ‘hidden dig’ towards Peter Lawwell.

Sky Sports tweeted a video of the Leicester boss discussing how Celtic desperately need a Director of Football at the club.

The ex-Liverpool boss even said that it’s ‘critical’ for the Hoops to find someone to fulfil the role.

It’s hard to disagree.

A Director of Football helps streamline the process between the boardroom and a manager when it comes to transfers, and tidies up any differences in opinion regarding recruitment, often through the use of data analysis.

Having said that, some supporters think Rodgers was only saying this to aim a thinly veiled dig at the man once sat above him.

Lawwell – Celtic’s Chief Executive, who will be leaving at the end of the season – unfortunately couldn’t stop Rodgers from departing mid-season for Leicester.

Now, that could’ve been down to an issue in their relationship, if the Celtic supporters’ theory below is anything to go by.

There was a small sign that Lawwell had bought a player Rodgers didn’t want after the arrival of Marian Shved.

As the Daily Mail covered, the ex-Liverpool boss sounded less than enthusiastic about his new signing in 2019, saying that he’s already got plenty of wingers and he didn’t know much about the Ukrainian.

Let’s see what they’ve been saying about hearing what Rodgers said…
