Ray Donovan fans were devastated when season 8 was cancelled but now, a newly announced movie will fix that and properly wrap-up Ray Donovan’s story.
Ray Donovan was one of Showtime’s signature shows during its run from 2013 to 2020.
That was until the network cancelled Ray Donovan after season 7 came to an end with several plot points still left hanging.
Fans protested that Ray Donovan wouldn’t be returning for season 8 and on February 24th, it was announced that Ray Donovan would be returning at long last.
Ray Donovan season 8’s cancellation
On February 4, 2020, it was announced that Showtime had cancelled the much-loved series after seven seasons.
This left fans in uproar as several plot points from season 7 were still left hanging.
Thankfully for Ray Donovan fans, it wasn’t long until word began to spread that the series was not quite dead and buried.
In an Instagram post in April 2020, Liev Schreiber revealed that: “It seems like your voices have been heard… Too soon to say how or when, but with a little luck and your ongoing support, there will be more Ray Donovan.”
Ray Donovan movie announced
After several months of radio silence, Ray Donovan’s fate was finally confirmed on February 24th, 2021, when it was announced that Liev Schreiber’s character would be returning to our screens in a feature-length movie.
The film will properly wrap-up Ray Donovan’s storyline and according to Deadline, is expected to enter production in New York later this year with the aim of releasing on Showtime in 2022.
