Rejoice! Frasier is finally getting a reboot, but will David Hyde Pierce, aka everyone’s favourite onscreen physician brother Niles, be in the series?
Paramount+ confirmed yesterday, February 25th, Frasier will get the reboot fans have been asking for. The show will of course be led by Kelsey Grammer, as what’s Frasier without …Frasier?
Writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life in Pieces) will lead the writing time for the revival. Not much has been confirmed about the storyline, but Paramount+ described it as “more exactly the same than ever”.
No release date, episode count or plot has been confirmed, but what about the casting?
Will David Hyde Pierce return to the Frasier cast?
Other than Kelsey Grammer, no other cast members have been confirmed yet, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they wont be in it.
Co-stars including David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin were all huge parts of Frasier so it’s hard to imagine a reboot without them.
While no confirmation has arrived yet, Kelsey Grammer has previously said he wouldn’t do a reboot with David Hyde Pierce, which could be a good sign.
Fans demand Niles to be in the reboot
As it stands, fans will have to wait a little for definite confirmation over whether or not Niles will return, but that hasn’t stopped them taking their upset to Twitter.
Fans have been sending messages of dissapointment over the lack of cast confirmation for Niles.
“As a big fan of Frasier I was looking forward to the reboot but with David Hyde Pierce missing yeah I’m not so sure anymore,” tweeted one.
“Not having David Hyde Pierce in the Frasier reboot is like having a psychiatrists office without a sofa, a symphony without a conductor, an overly aggressive zinfandel without a Chilean sea bass,” posted another.
