YNW Melly, real name Jamell Maurice Demons, is an American rapper and songwriter from Florida who is most known for his song “Murder on My Mind.”
In April 2020, YNW Melly tested positive for Covid-19 but was denied release from prison.
When is YNW Melly coming home?
On February 13th 2019, YNW Melly was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. According to The Sun, “[YNW] Melly is currently in custody at Broward County Jail in Florida awaiting his double-murder trial.”
Back in April 2020 the 21-year-old rapper from Florida was denied release from prison after he contracted Covid-19.
In August 2020, YNW shared a photograph from prison, which he captioned on Twitter: “When they think you down bad and at your worst that’s when they s**t on you I’ll be home soon shit on me I won’t hesitate to shine on you.”
There has not yet been a confirmation of YNW Melly’s release date. Prosecutors are reported to be pushing for capital punishment, as of 2019.
Bobby Shmurda released from prison
Fans of YNW Melly have been hoping for his release following the successful release of rappers such as Kodak Black and Bobby Shmurda. One fan tweeted: “First Kodak now Bobby let’s get Melly next and we straaaaight.”
Bobby Shmurda, real name Ackquille Pollard, was arrested in 2014.
On 23rd February 2021, Bobby Shmurda was released from prison after serving seven years on weapons and conspiracy charges.
Migos member Quavo told Billboard that he would be collecting Bobby. He said:
“I’m going to get my guy,. I’m personally gonna go pick up Bobby Shmurda. I’m bout to go get him. I’m gonna let him show you how I’m gonna pick him up, yessir.”
