Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has claimed that Tottenham have been offered the chance to hire Julian Nagelsmann this summer.
It’s no secret that Nagelsmann has been in Spurs’ sights for some time now, but now the German has actually been offered to Spurs.
Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean he will be coming to north London anytime soon. After all, it will reportedly cost north of £30m to relieve Jose Mourinho of his duties.
However, it is still interesting to note that Nagelsmann has been offered to Spurs.
“I can tell you that my information is that Julian Nagelsmann, who was a candidate to replace Mauricio Pochettino before Mourinho was hired, and is admired by Tottenham’s board,” Castles said.
“I can tell you that he has been offered to Tottenham as a replacement for Mourinho, I understand it’s for the summer, not mid-season. Nagelsmann would not like to leave Leipzig while they’re still in the Champions League and in a position of relative success in the Bundesliga. That is obviously going to be a very tempting proposition for Daniel Levy.”

As Castles says, this is going to be a very tempting proposition for Daniel Levy.
The chairman has a big decision to make on Mourinho in the coming months, and the chance to hire a manager like Nagelsmann doesn’t always come around that often.
The German was ranked 3rd on UEFA’s Coach of the Year shortlist after last season, ahead of the likes of Thomas Tuchel and Pep Guardiola, so it’s clear to see just how good of a gaffer he is.
Whether or not he’s given the Spurs job remains to be seen.
