Rangers are favourites to progress to the Europa League’s last 16
Rangers are capable of knocking out English giants like Arsenal and Tottenham in the Europa League.
That’s the view of former Chelsea man Jason Cundy as Steven Gerrard’s team continue to impress on the European stage.
The Ibrox side are unbeaten in their 10 European matches this season, with eight wins and two draws.
The only dropped points came against Benfica in Group D, which Rangers topped after wins home and away against Standard Liege and Lech Poznan.
Having reached the competition’s final 16 last season, Gerrard’s men are on course to at least match that achievement this time after beating Royal Antwerp 4-3 away from home in last week’s round of 32 first leg.
Ahead of Thursday’s return fixture at Ibrox, Cundy has hailed their progress and insisted English clubs will be keen to avoid them should they reach the next round.
He said: “Their performances, not just in Scotland, but their performances in Europe have been truly astonishing.
“They conceded a penalty just on half-time, it’s one of the weakest penalties you will see, but in the modern game now any contact on the ankle they’ll go down and get the penalty.
“It’s another brilliant result. English clubs will be looking at them and be thinking ‘I’d rather avoid them right now’.
“I’d love to see Rangers up against a Premier League side and knock them out.”
Rangers are also enjoying an impressive campaign on the domestic front, having accrued an 18-point lead over rivals Celtic that potentially leaves them just three games away from winning the title.
