Noel Whelan raved about Leeds United winger Raphinha on BBC Radio Leeds (8:09pm, February 23, 2021) for his performance against Southampton at Elland Road.
The former Leeds striker, who now works as a pundit for BBC Radio Leeds, was impressed by the display produced by the Brazilian winger against Southampton in the Premier League this evening.
The 24-year-old winger was very lively and creative in the match, and he also scored a wonderful goal from a free kick in the 84th minute, helping his side to a 3-0 win.
Whelan said about Raphinha on BBC Radio Leeds (8:09pm, February 23, 2021): “When you get him in the game and you get him in the zone where he is enjoying himself, he has got himself a goal, he has been tearing people apart all night, setting up goals for people who send them over the bar, when you get a player like that in that zone and in that mood, they will pull out some tricks.”
How did Raphinha play against Southampton?
Raphinha has been playing well for Leeds all season, and the 2020 summer signing was brilliant against Southampton as well.
The 24-year-old was not exactly at his best in the first half, but the winger stepped up his game in the second period and was a joy to watch.
The winger was running at the Southampton defence, going past opposition players, was always available for the ball, and scored a brilliant free kick.
According to WhoScored, Raphinha played four key passes, had a pass accuracy of 57.1%, took 41 touches, attempted two dribbles, made one tackle and one interception, and put in five crosses.
So far this season, the winger has made 17 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Leeds, scoring five goals and providing five assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
