Micah Richards told Super Sunday on Sky Sports that West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell is his ‘Hammer of the Year’.
The popular TV pundit stated that West Ham’s 2014 signing is a ‘joy to watch’ in this Champions League-chasing outfit.
Since moving into the London Stadium, Cresswell’s form from Upton Park didn’t follow him into new surroundings as he struggled for several seasons.
But under David Moyes’ stewardship, Cresswell, whether playing in a flat back four or in a back three, has transformed his game and has a fan in the ex-England defender, Richards.
“Cresswell has been my Hammer of the Year,” said Richards. “Every time I watch him play.
“He might not have the pace of a Robertson or a Tierney. But his positional sense. His delivery off free-kicks. He really is a joy to watch.”
Cresswell is going to have his work cut out winning Hammer of the Year because there are several names vying for that position.
From the Terminator-like figure Tomas Soucek to his partner in crime in the middle of the park, Declan Rice.
In truth, you could hand it to several players, that’s how good each player has performed, but it’s a dream scenario for the West Ham fans to be in compared to the last campaign.
