Behind Her Eyes on Netflix

Behind Her Eyes arrived on Netflix on February 17th, 2021.

Based on the acclaimed Sarah Pinborough novel of the same name, the six-episode series tells the story of Louise who begins an affair with her new boss, David.

Matters are complicated when Louise bumps into Adele, David’s wife, and the pair begin an unlikely friendship.

However, nothing is as it seems in Behind Her Eyes and hints that David is controlling Adele are just the tip of an iceberg in mysterious and troubling goings-on.

Is Behind Her Eyes scary?

Obviously, what people find scary is subjective and is different depending on the person but Behind Her Eyes doesn’t really stray into full-blown horror territory.

At the beginning of the series, Behind Her Eyes’ main character, Louise, suffers from night terrors but these largely involve her walking down dark and spooky corridors and don’t involve anything too grizzly.

Speaking in a press release, Simona Brown, the actress who plays Louise, explained: “I don’t think it is American Horror Story scary, but more unsettling and strange.

“I think it’s quite dark to watch but not disturbing. I didn’t feel the need to sit down and contemplate my life afterwards!

“It was more like, ‘That’s a cool shot.’ I wouldn’t sit down with an eight-year-old and watch it though.”

To make a note of

While Behind Her Eyes doesn’t stray into the realms of horror, the series does feature a number of elements that are adult-oriented.

Behind Her Eyes doesn’t feature much in the way of violence, rated Mild on IMDb, although there are moments of threat and tension between characters where profane language is also used.

There are several sex scenes throughout the series that show off characters’ buttocks but nothing more graphic than that. Rated Moderate on IMDb.

And finally, drug use, both through taking pills and injection, is shown but again, this is rated as Moderate as there’s nothing too graphic on display.

Behind Her Eyes is available to stream now on Netflix after releasing on February 17th, 2021.
