Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Roberto Firmino looks a different player at Liverpool this season, going as far as to say he can’t hit a barn door.

The Brazilian has had a fair bit of stick for his inability to find the back of the net this season, and as much as he’s a fantastic player, it’s easy to understand why he’s been made a scapegoat.

The attacker can’t seem to catch a break this season, and Ferdinand has added to the ongoing pile-on.

“Don’t forget that you had a front three that everything they touched hit the back of the net last season and the season before, it ain’t quite the same this season, Salah’s the top scorer in the league, but Firmino can’t hit a barn door, it’s very different, and you’ve got to build up certain individuals as well as the team,” Ferdinand said.

Unfortunately, the Manchester United legend is right.

Firmino hasn’t been at his best for Liverpool this season, and he needs a confidence boost to get back on track.

The Brazilian looks a far cry from the player who was the Champions League’s joint-top goalscorer a few years ago, and while he still shows glimpses of talent, his goalscoring touch has completely deserted him.

Fortunately, Liverpool have a talented squad and a great manager at the helm, and there’s every chance that Firmino gets back to his best under Klopp’s tutelage.
