Martin Odegaard’s performance for Arsenal against Manchester City on Sunday evening did not impress Real Madrid-centric website Defensa Central.
Odegaard is on loan at Arsenal from Madrid, having joined the Gunners in the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old Norway international attacking midfielder started against City at the Emirates Stadium in North London.
The youngster’s performance in the Premier League game did not impress Defensa Central, who wrote that he did not have “any offensive weight in the game”.
The website wrote that Odegaard had “a very flat game”, adding that although his “defensive performance was still good”, the midfielder “was hardly having significance” in attack.
According to WhoScored, the attacking midfielder had a pass accuracy of 81.8%, took 40 touches, attempted one dribble, made one tackle and one clearance, and put in one cross.
In the build-up to the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was raving about Odegaard, telling The Daily Star that he is “a young leader” who is “showing a lot of character and intelligence”.
Odegaard was not at his best against City, but one suspects that the attacking midfielder will know that and will be determined to pick step up his game.
The Norway international has made two starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League and has played once in the Europa League for the Gunners so far this campaign, according to WhoScored.
