Micah Richards has told Sky Sports that he thought Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang looked much slower yesterday.

Aubameyang struggled in Arsenal’s game against Manchester City on Sunday, as the Gunners slipped to a 1-0 defeat.

Although Aubameyang didn’t have too many opportunities forged for him, when the ball was played into him, his hold-up play was lacking.

Aubameyang’s pace also didn’t prove to be much of a threat on the breakaway.

And Richards thinks that the Arsenal forward has lost his pace.

“Aubameyang is the wrong side now,” the former City defender said.

“He had a moment when he tried to run past Stones and he didn’t have the pace that he had from two or three years ago.”

Jamie Redknapp also felt that he was seeing signs that Aubameyang is now going downhill as a player.

“Aubameyang’s past his best. He could have moments, he’s going to get his hat-tricks,” the pundit added.

“When I watch him sometimes it’s like he’s lost his superpower. You used to see him run past people when he first came into the Premier League, I’ve seen him run past people at Dortmund.

“I’m seeing now a player who looks like he’s going to get bullied every occasion. And he’s your leading light!”

If the Sky pundits are correct then it could be a concern for Arsenal.

The Gunners have just handed Aubameyang a new long-term contract, on big wages, and his pace is his major asset.

Aubameyang has scored 11 goals in 25 games for Arsenal this season, which is a disappointing return for a striker of his calibre.
