Steven Gerrard’s Rangers reportedly wanted to sign Thomas Robert, but it seems that Neil Lennon’s Celtic are about to secure the services of the young winger.
Rangers and Celtic interest
The Chronicle reported in May 2020 that Rangers, Celtic and Newcastle United wanted to sign Robert, who was available on a free transfer last summer after his departure from French side Montpellier.
However, the youngster joined Scottish League One club Airdrieonians instead in what was a surprise move.
Celtic move ahead
The Scottish Sun has now reported that Celtic could finally secure the services of the 20-year-old, who can play as a winger or behind the stikers.
The report has claimed that Rangers were keeping tabs on the talented and promising young attacker.
It has been added that Robert will train with Celtic ahead of a potential move to the defending Scottish Premiership champions.
The Scottish Sun has reported that talks between Celtic and Airdrieonians have taken place, and that the two clubs are edging close to an agreement over the youngster training at Lennoxtown.
Rangers missing out
According to the report, the youngster has scored four goals in 14 appearances for the Diamonds.
Robert will hope to impress during training with Celtic and then earn a contract for the 2021-22 campaign and beyond.
It seems that Rangers will miss out on Robert… again.
