You know Arsenal have a proper player on their hands when even Tottenham Hotspur supporters are ignoring the rivalry between both clubs to praise one of their lads.
The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw by Benfica in the first leg of their last-32 Europa League last night.
And one player who impressed in a big way for Arsenal was Martin Odegaard, who has won the praise of some Spurs fans on Twitter.
The 22-year-old, who joined the North Londoners on loan in January, showed shades of Mesut Ozil with a defence-splitting pass that ultimately led to Mikel Arteta’s side equalising through Bukayo Saka on 57 minutes.
Arsenal had badly missed a playmaker for most of the season prior to Odegaard’s arrival and here’s how some Tottenham fans reacted to his performance on social media:
It has previously been reported by Eurosport this month that Odegaard would be more than happy to stay at Arsenal for the long term if a deal can be agreed with his parent club.
The Norway international is earning £85,000 per week right now and although that wouldn’t pose much difficulty for the Emirates Stadium club, it remains to be seen what sort of transfer fee Real are looking for right now.
