‘He better not play’: Spurs fans think Mourinho should’ve left £15m player back in London

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter believe that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is in dire need of a break.

Spurs resume their Europa League campaign tonight with the first leg of their last-32 tie against Austrian outfit Wolfsberger in Budapest.

Hojbjerg took part in Jose Mourinho’s training session at Hotspur Way on Wednesday and was presumably on the flight that left Hungary last night.

The Denmark international has looked an absolute snip for the £15 million Tottenham spent on him last summer, but there have been signs in recent weeks that the former Southampton midfielder – who conceded a cheap penalty against Manchester City last Saturday – has been slowing down.

The North Londoners have had 2,070 minutes of Premier League action this season and Hojbjerg has played every single one of them.

And Lilywhites fans on Twitter are claiming that the no-nonsense Dane is in dire need of a rest.

Tottenham posted a training montage of Hojbjerg from yesterday’s session on social media and here’s some fans responded:
