Tottenham Hotspur have high hopes for midfielder Oliver Skipp – and excitement is really building now.
Skipp has emerged through the Spurs ranks, and with first-team football unlikely this season, he was sent on loan to Norwich City.
The 20-year-old has racked up 29 Championship starts this season, playing more than 2500 minutes in a key season for his development.
Skipp has earned huge praise for his performances this season, and Spurs fans now have real hope that he could play a big part next season and beyond.
Skipp is still young; Spurs could yet decide to give him another year out on loan, and that could really work if Norwich do win promotion back to the Premier League.
Now, Canaries boss Daniel Farke has admitted to the Eastern Daily Press that he doesn’t want to give Skipp too much public praise because young players can be led astray once praise is given to them.

Farke has though added that he thinks Skipp is a top player and a top character, noting that his decision to give the midfielder plenty of playing time is a big enough indication of his thoughts on the Spurs man.
“I am always careful to praise young lads too much, I like to keep the pressure high on them because in these times they are celebrated so much by social media, agents and things like this,” said Farke. “It’s difficult also for young players to handle that praise so I am quite careful in praising them too much but actions are more important than any words and when you look at Oliver’s season you can realise that he has played more or less every second in the league for us, for a side that has lots of competition in the squad.”
“This says a lot about how much I rate him and how much I value him, I don’t want to praise him too much in public, it’s more like each and every day I keep on criticising him. I ask for more goals, for more assists, better passing choices, for many topics to improve – but my actions speak louder than my words. He plays each and every second for more or less each and every game for such a good side. He’s a top player and also a top character,” he added.
