Newcastle could find themselves embroiled in a relegation fight

Newcastle are in a relegation fight now.
That’s the view of club legend Micky Quinn, who watched his former side serve up a meek performance as they went down 2-0 against Chelsea on Monday night.
The result means Steve Bruce’s men have lost seven of their last nine Premier League matches, and any momentum that could have been built by the 3-2 win over Southampton has quickly dissipated.
While the Magpies are seven points clear of Fulham, who occupy 18th place in the league table, Scott Parker’s side have a game in hand and secured an excellent 2-0 win over Everton at Goodison on Sunday.

Quinn, who scored 39 goals in the 1989/90 season for Newcastle, was thoroughly unimpressed by what the current crop of players produced at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Quinn expressed his fears alongside Ally McCoist, who asked: “Are they well within Fulham’s reach?”.
Quinn replied: “Definitely. The one thing, if you’ve looked at some of the games recently, Sheffield United have improved, Fulham have improved, they beat Everton at the weekend, you look at Burnley, they’ve improved, this is from three or four weeks ago, and started to rack up points.

“They are in a relegation fight. They can get out of it, because they have got the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron, and the kid’s done well since he’s come to Newcastle Joe Willock as well, if he gets that service.
“So they have got a chance, but to me, I don’t know, if they play like that last night.
“First half was desperate. Desperate, desperate first half.”
Newcastle are next in action on Sunday, when they face a daunting task against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
