Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports during their live coverage of Tottenham’s defeat to Manchester City on Saturday that Hugo Lloris was ‘awful’ again for his side.
The Premier League leaders were too good for the North London outfit, as Carragher was also critical of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for being ‘very clumsy’ when he gave away a penalty inside the opening 20 minutes.
On one hand, Jose Mourinho and Spurs fans will be pretty annoyed at the type of goals they conceded, but equally, they are coming up against a team on a 16-game winning run.
Nonetheless, Tottenham’s £8m million (Independent) keeper came into the firing line from Carragher, alongside Hojbjerg.
“It’s clumsy, very clumsy (from Hojbjerg to give away the pen),” said Carragher. “The goalkeeper maybe actually disappointed in that (getting a hand to the penalty).
“It’s so clumsy (from Hojbjerg). He’s actually remonstrating with the referee. I mean what’s he doing?
On Man City’s second goal: “Hugo Lloris, who was awful in midweek, hasn’t been much better today.
“He should have saved the penalty. And he should have saved that as well. On his (Gundogan’s) weak foot. He toe-pokes it really. He’s just not strong enough to keep it out. Very reminiscent of his performance in midweek.”

Questions have to be asked of Lloris because this is not the first time in his Tottenham career that he has gone through mistake-ridden spells.
Joe Hart is Tottenham’s back-up, but whether Mourinho is willing to push the experienced keeper into the starting fold in the Premier League again remains to be seen.
Either way, with games coming thick and fast, including knockout competitions such as the Europa League, Lloris cannot afford to be so easy to beat in between his sticks now.
