Gary Lineker has praised West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on Twitter for his late save against Manchester United today.

West Brom have played out a 1-1 draw with United at The Hawthorns in the Premier League this afternoon.

The Baggies took the lead after just two minutes when Mbaye Diagne headed home Conor Gallagher’s cross.

Bruno Fernandes scored a wonderful goal on the stroke of half time to restore parity for the Red Devils.

Harry Maguire could have won the match for United when he headed towards the top corner in the final moments of the game, but West Brom goalkeeper Johnstone tipped his effort against the post.

Johnstone is actually a former United player who could not establish himself in the first team and moved to West Brom in 2018, and former Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City striker Lineker was impressed by his late save.

The draw means that West Brom are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 13 points from 24 matches, 12 points behind 17th-placed Newcastle United, who have played 23 games.
