Outspoken vegan Ariana Grande tried to order a baked Alaska in new 34+35 Remix’s credit cookie. Is Ariana Grande still vegan? We explore and explain.
Is Ariana Grande vegan?
27-year-old recording artist Ariana Grande announced via Twitter that she was going “100% Vegan!!!!” in 2013.
Two days later, she said her “heart feels happy with this decision” in reply to a tweet by PETA celebrating her choice.
A year later, she described herself in an interview with the Mirror as “a firm believer in eating a full plant-based, whole-food diet”.
She continued to say that it “can expand your life length and make you an all-round happier person.”
2019: Ariana Grande endorses Starbucks drink containing egg whites
Then, in 2019, Grande endorsed a new Starbucks drink called a “Cloud Macchiato”. Its USP – the “cloud” component – has a meringue-like texture, owing to one of its constituent parts: egg whites.
(Allegedly, the caramel drizzle also contains dairy, which is not a vegan foodstuff.)
Egg whites are, of course, non-vegan. As a result, observant fans began to doubt Grande’s dietary allegiances.

Ariana Grande’s personal trainer said she had “widened the ingredients she puts into her diet” in a 2017 interview with Reebok.
Incidentally, the year Ariana Grande promoted a non-vegan Starbucks drink was the same year her brother announced to his 2.1 million followers that he was a “super proud vegan”.
What has the new 34+35 remix got to do with it?
I been drinking coffee, and I been eating healthy
Ariana Grande’s latest release has reignited the internet’s curiosity in her vegan (or non-vegan) diet.
In the post-credits scene, or “credit cookie”, Ariana Grande attempts to order a baked Alaska.
Also called omelette norvégienne, omelette surprise, or omelette sibérienne, depending on the country, a baked Alaska is a dessert consisting of ice cream on a cake base, covered in browned meringue.
Naturally, the meringue component traditionally contains egg whites, so fans have started wondering if vegan baked Alaska is a thing.
Vegan baked Alaska is indeed a thing, so Ariana Grande could still be vegan after all.
Although, even if it wasn’t, the fact that she pretended to order the dessert in a music video probably wouldn’t hold up in court as a means to discredit her ethical choices.
