Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after WhoScored tweeted a statistic about Thomas Partey.
😅 Thomas Partey has committed the most errors leading to an opposition shot (7) without any resulting in a goal in Europe's top five leagues since the start of last season pic.twitter.com/IVdASYvG4X— WhoScored.com (@WhoScored) February 10, 2021
The popular stats site revealed that the Ghana international had committed the most errors leading to an opposition shot since the start of last season.
Partey committed seven errors, according to WhoScored. However, none of these resulted in a goal for the opponent.
In that respect, this is a very strange, and unusual, statistic.
It effectively means that the £45 million man could’ve lost the ball on the halfway line, and an opponent took a wild, long-range attempt from 40 yards.
WhoScored have been fairly misleading here, in that sense.
The Arsenal fans on Twitter certainly aren’t happy with the statistic.
Some feel that WhoScored are attempting to defame Partey through the use of their wordy, rare statistic.
Others think it’s just an attempt to gain interaction from the Emirates Stadium faithful on Twitter.
If it was, then it’s well and truly done the trick.
The 27-year-old has had a tough start to life in England, with the Gunners far from their best form while he’s also endured a few injury issues.
In light of that, he presumably won’t appreciate this statistic.
Let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about WhoScored’s tweet…
Most useless stat ever how many lead to a goal? Why do all these stat pages find the most ridiculous stats for us 😭😭 https://t.co/riUxjAUnHV— Keion Taylor 🇯🇲 (@KeionTaylor_) February 10, 2021
This is a clear attempt to ruffle arsenal fans. Literally could be anything from losing the ball 40 yards from goal and the opposition player blazes it over from 40 https://t.co/cZQv7Y1YRE— AFC (@AFC_fan1995) February 10, 2021
Lol what is this new, meaningless metric? 😂 https://t.co/OjhvtNIrPP— A〽️ar (@Arsene__Knows) February 10, 2021
Imagine making up new stats just to slander Arsenal 😭— Tej (@tjtex26) February 10, 2021
Errors leading to shots? Wow
Hes a midfielder that constantly looks to play a progressive pass, sometimes it doesnt always work and they attack
It's clearly not bad as it's never lead to a goal and only 7 shots in 50 games https://t.co/HyCbSCLqlk
Creating stats out of thin air just to bring a man down. Have shame https://t.co/3yrYnQQcuB— ⛹🏾♂️ (@Yoma59ii) February 10, 2021
