According to Sky Sports, Liverpool are understood to be thinking about triggering the release clause of Sporting Lisbon maestro Pedro Goncalves.
The 22-year-old has a £53 million buyout clause in his contract with the Portuguese giants, which has got Liverpool thinking.
The Reds are deciding whether to activate the clause this summer, as they look to bolster their ranks.
If the Premier League champions do manage to bring Goncalves to Anfield, then there would be cause for the Liverpool supporters to get excited.
The Portugal Under-21 international has scored an eye-catching 14 goals in just 16 Liga NOS appearances this season.
Goncalves also has two assists to his name – on average, he’s been involved in a goal every game this season in the Portuguese top-flight.

The Chaves-born attacking midfielder was signed to replace Bruno Fernandes, who left Sporting Lisbon for Manchester United.
Funnily enough, Goncalves has also been likened to the Red Devils talisman.
The Birmingham Mail ran a feature on the Liverpool target, which included contributions from Sporting Lisbon supporters.

One fan, named Nuno Valinhas, said: “He’s doing great for us. He’s delivering far more than expected, especially his incredible goal tally. Bruno Fernandes like, or even better, like for like – not so many assists though.”
If that isn’t enough reason to get excited about Goncalves, we don’t know what is.
Liverpool could potentially get their hands on an absolute gem this summer if they decide to stump up the cash.
