Joleon Lescott has suggested to BT Sport that Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin is ‘lightening’ fast, but doesn’t get enough credit for his pace.

Calvert-Lewin has taken plenty of acclaim this season, with the Everton forward enjoying his best scoring run of his career.

The England international has 18 goals to his name this term, and is starting to look a shoo-in to make Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2020.

But Lescott doesn’t think that observers realise just how quick Calvert-Lewin is.

“I don’t think he gets enough credit for how fast he is. He’s lightening fast,” Lescott said.

“He’s great in the air and more importantly is that he wants to win it. He doesn’t care about the aftermath, he doesn’t care if he runs into the post. He looks like a person determined.”

Calvert-Lewin was on the scoresheet for Everton again last night.

The striker got himself into a good position and volleyed home, as Everton beat Tottenham 5-4.

Worryingly for the Toffees though, he did limp off in the second-half, and there are now concerns that he could be sidelined for a while.

Everton are next in action against Fulham, before they take on Manchester City next Wednesday.
