Arsenal chose not to bring in a new attacker in January, instead prioritising a playmaker in Martin Odegaard.
The Gunners may look to the market for more attacking firepower this summer depending on Folarin Balogun’s future, but one target has evaded them.
Sao Paulo talent Brenner has been on Arsenal’s radar of late, and it looked like Edu had real hope of luring his compatriot to the Emirates Stadium.
The Daily Mail noted in November that Arsenal were looking to sign Brenner, especially as he has an Italian passport – drawing comparisons to Gabriel Martinelli.
Brenner has been a sensation in Sao Paulo’s first team, smashing 17 goals in 33 games to become a hot prospect at the age of just 21.
If Arsenal were waiting until the summer to sign him, then they have waited too long as a surprise club have confirmed his signature.

Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati have confirmed that Brenner has joined as their new Young Designated Player, paying around $13million (£9.4million) for his services.
Cincinnati are one of the newer MLS sides and have little success to speak of so far, but do have a big-name manager in ex-Manchester United star Jaap Stam.
Brenner joins the likes of Yuya Kubo, Jurgen Locadia and Makohelo Mokotjo as a key man at Cincinnati, and losing out to a fairly small MLS side is something few Arsenal fans would have predicted.
