Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has praised his teammate Raphinha on Sky Sports.

Bamford has said that he knew just how good his Leeds teammate Raphinha is after training with him.

The Englishman said on Sky Sports: “Raphinha is brilliant. I think, to be honest, he has been a steal for Leeds. I am surprised.

“As soon as he came in, you saw him in training, you know sometimes with players whether they are good or they are top class, and he really was. He stood out straightaway.

“I am surprised that bigger teams, more established Premier League teams I should say, haven’t taken a punt on him because he really is someone special, and he is young.”

Brilliant signing for Leeds United

Bamford made the comments about Raphinha following his performance against Crystal Palace at Elland Road in the Premier League on Monday evening.

The Brazilian winger showed a great piece of skill when he beat Gary Cahill, pressed the Palace defence well, and was a constant threat to the opposition.

According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old winger took four shots of which two were on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 75.%, won one header, took 75 touches, and made one tackle.

So far this season, the Brazilian has scored four goals and provided four assists in 14 Premier League starts for the Whites, according to WhoScored.

Raphinha joined Leeds from Rennes in the summer of 2020 for a transfer fee reported by The Athletic to be worth £17 million.

The Brazilian has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water, and the Leeds recruitment team must be praised for spotting the winger.
