Clinton Morrison raved about Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford on Sky Sports News (2:21pm, February 6, 2021).
The former Crystal Palace forward, who now work as a pundit for Sky Sports, was impressed by Bamford’s goal for Leeds against Leicester City away from home at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on January 31.
The former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest striker found the back of the net with a brilliant effort, and he also provided two assists, the Whites won 3-1.
According to WhoScored, Bamford has scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 21 Premier League matches for Leeds so far this season.
Morrison said about Bamford on Sky Sports News (2:21pm, February 6, 2021), as transcribed by The Yorkshire Evening Post: “It’s a difficult one. England have a lot of strikers, maybe five or six, but he’s done himself no harm. I thought he was unplayable.
“His finish was top drawer. I can’t tell you how hard it is to finish like that into the top corner. The technique is ridiculous. I thought he led the line brilliantly as a proper centre-forward.”
Patrick Bamford for England?
Morrison made the comments about Bamford while discussing the striker’s chances of playing for England.
The Three Lions have some very good strikers, and it is going to be hard for the 27-year-old to get into manager Gareth Southgate’s squad.
After all, England are not lacking in quality players upfront. Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford are guaranteed to be in the squad when they are fit and available, while the likes of Tammy Abraham, Danny Ings, Mason Greenwood and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been playing in the Premier League longer than Bamford.
