Rodney Marsh has strongly criticised Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier on Twitter for giving away the penalty against Chelsea.

In the 23rd minute of the Premier League game between Tottenham and Chelsea at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday evening, Dier conceded a penalty.

The 27-year-old England international, who can also operate as a midfielder, kicked Chelsea forward Timo Werner from behind inside the box.

It was poor defending from Dier,, and former Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City forward Marsh was far from impressed by the 27-year-old England international.

Stepping up

Tottenham were very disappointing against Chelsea, especially in the first half, and it is important that Jose Mourinho’s side step up their game following the 1-0 defeat in the London derby..

It is hard to see Spurs challenge for the Premier League title now, but Mourinho’s side are still very much in the running for the top four in the table.

However, Tottenham do need to do better and play more expansive football to win matches, and hopefully the Premier League club’s fans will get to see that soon.
