The latest Riverdale episode allowed fans to finally watch their favourite characters graduate high school and say their emotional goodbyes to one another.

The show ended with a jump forward one year to Pop’s diner, where a lonesome Jughead sat alone as the others never returned as promised.

This small time jump prepares fans for what is to come, as the rest of season five will take place seven years in the future, with Betty, Jughead, Archie and Veronica all grown up.

Is season five the last season of Riverdale?

Riverdale season five hops seven years into the future, allowing fans to finally see where their favourite characters end up later in life.

Speaking about the time jump, Lilli Reinhart said:

“I get to play someone who’s my age now and not a teenager. I’m going up in the world… I don’t want to be 30 playing an 18 year old.”
