Liverpool slipped up again on Wednesday night, losing 1-0 at home to Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Reds looked to have got back on track with a wins over Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, but were disappointing again last night.

Steven Alzate bagged a second-half winner for the Seagulls, who were the better side against a flat and uninspired Liverpool side.

Liverpool just couldn’t get back into the game, and now sit seven points behind Manchester City in the race for the title.

The two sides meet this weekend, meaning a City win would leave Liverpool a whopping 10 points off the pace – and Pep Guardiola’s men even have a game in hand.

Liverpool have won just two of their last eight Premier League games, and have fired blanks in five of those games.

After the game, defender Andrew Robertson was asked about the title race, and gave a brutally honest answer in the process.

The Daily Mail quote Robertson as saying that Liverpool simply aren’t even in the title race right now, highlighting the gap between the two sides right now whilst urging his teammates to rally quickly.

“Any game against Manchester City is a big one,” said Robertson. “As this moment stands, we’re not in the title race. We are seven points behind them and they have a game in hand.”

“I’m sure they’d say the same if they were potentially 10 points behind. We need to get back to the Liverpool everyone knows. We’re still a good team. We don’t turn into a bad team overnight,” he added.
