Micah Richards told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport that Steven Bergwijn’s ‘not really lived up to expectations’ at Tottenham.
It’s been over 12 months since Spurs secured Bergwijn’s services from PSV, and when he did enter the Tottenham scene, he made quite a stunning debut.
The versatile attacker scored a brilliant half-volley against the then-champions Manchester City to help his side to a 2-0 win.
But former England right-back Richards shared that he would like to ‘see a little bit more’ from the Dutchman, as he was talking about Spurs without Harry Kane.
“They still have some good players,” said Richards. “You mentioned Ndombele, he’s fantastic and he had a couple of assists. Great, great, great feet.
“Bergwijn’s not really lived up to the expectation. I want to see a little bit more from him.
“And it was only a month or two ago that we were talking about them being title contenders.”

Under Jose Mourinho, it doesn’t help Bergwijn’s cause when he is, at times, is acting like a fullback rather than a winger.
Rather than being tasked to track back in the half-spaces, Mourinho is asking Bergwijn to come right the way back, which is, of course, affecting his ability to make the ball talk in the final third.
But Tottenham themselves aren’t in great form, at this moment in time, so it makes life even more difficult.
