Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font plans to sign Everton target Rui Silva from Granada if he gets the gig at Camp Nou, as reported by Marca.

Would you jump at the chance to earn millions of pounds every year while sitting on the comfort of your own backside? If the answer is ‘yes’, you’d be an ideal back-up goalkeeper for Barcelona.

The La Liga giants are on the lookout for a new second-choice shot-stopper after Norberto Neto grew tired of life on the sidelines.

And, according to Marca, the ever-reliable Rui Silva has been identified as a potential replacement for the exit-seeking Brazilian.

If Fonte is given the nod to replace much-maligned president Josep Maria Bartomeu, Barca could come calling for the 26-year-old, one of La Liga’s most under-rated players.

Apparently Silva is on Font’s lengthy list of bargain targets, alongside Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia and Ronald Koeman favourite Gini Wijnaldum.

AS claims an overachieving Granada side expect to lose their Portuguese glovesman when his contract expires in the summer.

Silva has been a revelation at the Nuevo Los Carmenes, helping Granada seal promotion from the second tier in 2019 before qualifying for the Europa League 12 months later.

His stellar performances have also caught the eye of Everton (Estadio Deportivo).

And, as long as Jordan Pickford continues to man the net as if his wrists are made of bluetack and daisy-chains, you can only assume Silva would find first-team football easier to come by at Goodison Park than he would at Camp Nou.

Unless, of course, Barcelona’s dire financial situation forces them to cash in on the irrepressible Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
