Tottenham Hotspur slipped to defeat on Sunday night, losing 1-0 away at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Spurs went into the game without Harry Kane due to injury, and they looked poor and uninspired throughout.

Brighton grabbed all three points with a first-half goal as Leandro Trossard fired past Hugo Lloris to put the Seagulls in front.

Gareth Bale was anonymous, Son Heung-min couldn’t carry the workload on his own, and Spurs posted a blank in front of goal at the Amex Stadium.

It’s somewhat bizarre that Tottenham brought in Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica with the idea of using him as cover for Kane, yet left him on the bench when Kane picked up an injury.

The Brazilian did come on at half time to try and aid a floundering Spurs side, and whilst he couldn’t find the net, he seems to have impressed some fans.

Some believe that Vinicius was Tottenham’s best player on the night, and made a much bigger impact on the game than Gareth Bale did.

Others can’t believe that Jose Mourinho didn’t start Vinicius, branding the decision ‘madness’ and ‘shocking’, urging him to start the Brazilian against Chelsea in midweek.
