According to The Athletic, Southampton are interested in signing Takumi Minamino from Liverpool on transfer deadline day.
It has been reported that Southampton are working on a deal to sign the Japan international attacking player on loan from Premier League rivals Liverpool before the transfer window closes tonight.
Disappointing Liverpool spell
Minamino, who can operate as an attacking midfielder, winger or forward, has struggled to make an impact at Liverpool since his move from RB Salzburg in January 2020.
During the second half of last season, the 26-year-old made two starts and eight substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool, according to WhoScored.

So far this campaign, the Japan international has made two starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Reds, scoring one goal in the process, according to WhoScored.
Minamino has also made two starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for Jurgen Klopp’s side this campaign, according to WhoScored.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to send the attacking player out on loan to Southampton for the rest of the season.
