John Lundstram is hoping to earn a ‘lucrative’ contract at Crystal Palace though Roy Hodgson’s side will wait until the summer before signing the Sheffield United midfielder, as reported by The Sun (31 January, page 57).
With transfer funds tighter than a vacuum-packed tin of sardines right now, who can blame the Eagles for waiting until Lundstram’s contract expires?
After all, with Crystal Palace pretty much safe from relegation and facing four months of milling around in mid-table, there is no immediate need for Hodgson to reinforce his sturdy midfield – especially with James McCarthy expected to stay despite links with boyhood club Celtic.
The Sun reports that, with Sheffield United expected to demand a sizeable sum for the £4 million-rated Lundstram, Crystal Palace have no plans to make a move during the final day of the winter window.

A deal will be revisited in the summer, by which point the one-time Everton youngster will be a free agent.
And, given that Palace would not have to pay a transfer fee to bring him to Selhurst Park in the off-season, The Sun reports that Lundstram is hoping for a ‘lucrative contract’ – one that would presumably see him earn a profit on his current £4,000-a-week wages (Spotrac).
