According to The Mirror (21:32), Arsenal are now expecting offers for Reiss Nelson on deadline day – and one could come from Unai Emery.
It’s claimed that Valencia wanted to sign Nelson, but now won’t make a late move having signed Patrick Cutrone on loan from Wolves.
Real Betis are keen on Nelson, but the interesting note is that Villarreal – managed by Emery – are also plotting a late move.
Emery coached Nelson during his time at Arsenal, and seemingly wants a last-gasp reunion with the winger.
The 21-year-old has only played two many Premier League games this season, and they were both substitute appearances for just 70 minutes.
That simply isn’t enough for a player of Nelson’s talent and potential, with first-team football definitely needed in the second half of the season.
Nelson is behind the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang, Willian, Martin Odegaard and Nicolas Pepe in the Arsenal pecking order, so a loan move is imperative.
Arsenal may now have to decide whether they trust Emery to develop Nelson until the summer, with plenty of other interest in his signature.
