Odsonne Edouard has been linked with numerous English Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham United.

The Celtic striker has persistently been tipped for a move to England’s top flight, but one former Rangers man believes he should have his sights set on Serie A.

Marco Negri was an instant hit in Scottish football, scoring an astonishing 23 goals in his first 10 league games after arriving from Perugia in 1997.

Edouard made his Scottish debut 20 years later, and his record of 76 goals in 153 games since being signed from PSG by Brendan Rodgers has seen his name mentioned in connection with a total of 27 clubs.

Among them are the likes of Juventus, Milan and Roma, and Negri believes the 23-year-old Frenchman would be a hit in Italy.

Speaking in the Sunday Post, Negri said: “For me, he looks a classic modern striker.

“He has the perfect physique, good technique and his movement is very clever.

“At the same time, I believe he could still learn a lot from playing with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus, or Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“These are players who are great stars, the best in the world. So it would be a real opportunity for him, and one not to be wasted.

“I say that, even though I know he enjoys a lot of success in Scotland, where he has already won many honours with Celtic.

“Of the two clubs he has been linked with from my country, I believe they (Milan) would probably be the better option.”

The Daily Star have put Edouard’s value at £35m, and the France under-21 international is expected to leave Glasgow in the summer.
