Rami Malek, Jared Leto, and Denzel Washington have never disappointed the viewers. The trio sure did a marvelous job in the HBO Max’s thriller movie. However, the plot of the movie has left many confused. Viewers have some burning questions about the ending that they are still trying to find an answer for.

NOTE: This article contains spoilers for the movie

What is ‘The Little Things’ about?

Denzel plays the role of  Joe “Deke” Deacon. Joe is a cop who became famous for his relation to a serial killer case. The case happened to suck the life out of Joe as it ended up ruining his marriage, health, career, and overall life, in general.

One would think that Joe would prevent himself from being dragged into another case like this. However, fate had other plans in store for him. Joe meets Jimmy Baxter (Rami), who has been trying to solve a serial killer case. One of the leads for him is a red barrette that the girl was wearing at the time of the murder.

Joe decided to hop on the case and help Jimmy out. As the pair try to put the pieces of the puzzle together, one suspect that seems to fit the situation is Albert Sparma (Jared). His look would have everyone convinced that he is the killer. Unfortunately, there was no evidence to prove that.

Who is the killer in ‘The Little Things’?

The ending of the movie has many confused. People have been wondering who the killer is. The entire movie paints the picture of Jared’s character being the killer. However, there is no real evidence of it.

The movie ends with Jimmy killing Albert and this action costs him his sanity. The movie then shows Jimmy receiving a package that has a red barrette. However, the scene quickly changes to Joe burning the evidence he had taken from Albert’s house. Viewers soon notice he has a new red barrette along with the items.

This seems to suggest that Joe was involved in yet another case where he let his feelings cloud reality. As for the question of who is the killer, it looks like the movie never really gave a solid answer. The movie seems to hint that it is the “little things” that make a lot of difference.

For instance, for Jimmy, receiving the red barrette was the little thing that helped his guilt. As for the idea about Albert being the killer, it would make perfect sense for a man with a creepy personality like him to be the killer. However, it could just be his personality. Rather than giving a concrete answer, the movie offers viewers something to think about. It hints it’s the little things that can change an entire situation.
